A former fortified castle transformed into a prison then a museum, this exceptional building tells us about the history of Gannat and its heritage from Prehistory to the Second World War. Skeleton of the 23 million year old fossil rhinoceros, God with the Gallo-Roman mallet, 9th century gospel, there are numerous pieces that retrace the history of the town of Gannat.

Open from April 12 to October 31, 2025:
– In April, May, June, and September, Fridays and weekends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. + school holidays (Zone A) from Wednesday to Sunday.
– In July and August, every day except Mondays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
– From October 20 to October 31, Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (until midnight on Thursdays). Workshops and activities by reservation.
